Happy Mother’s Day to the fathers who made Mother’s Day possible!

(Kaieteur News) – Mother’s Day does always expose some hard truths in society. Is one day in the year mothers supposed to kick off dem shoes, put up them feet and relax while everybody else do the work. But some people got a strange interpretation of appreciation. Dem does believe that giving mommy more work is part of the celebration.
Dem boys hear bout one mother who wake up Mother’s Day morning and get strict instructions from de children: “Mommy, don’t get out de bed!” Now any hardworking mother would feel nice hearing that. She lie down smiling and imagining breakfast in bed, flowers, maybe even one cup tea made without she having to ask three times.
After a lil while she smell scrambled eggs floating up from de kitchen. The aroma alone nearly bring tears to she eyes. She say to sheself, “Praise de Lord, de children finally learning gratitude.”
But after waiting and waiting and waiting, no tray ain’t arrive upstairs. No juice. No toast. Not even one half-burnt sausage. So she decide to investigate.
When she walk downstairs, she nearly collapse from shock. The two children sitting down comfortable at de table eating scrambled eggs and toast all by demself.
One of dem look up proudly and announce: “As a surprise for Mother’s Day, we decide to cook we own breakfast!”
Now that is modern parenting. The mother cook breakfast 364 days for de year, and on Mother’s Day de children celebrate by removing one day of work from she list—but only for themselves.
But de surpises ain’t done yet.
After everybody done eat, the mother automatically slip into training mode and start gathering up the dirty plates. Is then de husband finally decide to show appreciation.
“Honey, what you doing?” he ask.
She say, “Taking de dishes to de kitchen and putting dem in de dishwasher. What else?”
The husband puff up important and declare: “Come on darling, today is Mother’s Day! You’ll do that tomorrow!”
Dem boys seh some mothers don’t need flowers. Dem need a labour union, paid vacation, and witness protection from helpful family members.
Talk half. Leff half.
