Teachers from West Demerara Secondary ramp up Golf Training for CSEC
Kaieteur Sports – With CSEC season upon us, teachers from the West Demerara Secondary School visited the Westside Golf Course yesterday for their first official golf training and practice session as part of a developing initiative aimed at introducing golf as a structured sport programme for secondary school students, with the long-term goal of offering the sport as a CSEC-related activity and educational opportunity.
The teachers participated in hands-on instruction and practical training sessions conducted by Westside Golf Course Master Instructor and GGA president Aleem Hussain.
Students who choose the sport for their PE CSEC exams this year, will continue to fine-tune their skills across the respective learning institutions ahead of crunch time which is set for sometime later this month.
Teachers from the West Demerara Secondary continued their coaching/training yesterday ahead of the upcoming CSEC exams.
Participants on Wednesday expressed excitement and satisfaction with the experience, praising the quality of training and the welcoming atmosphere provided at the facility.
Following the session, the teachers confirmed their commitment to returning every Wednesday for continued practice and development as it further enhances the quality of learning within schools from a coaching perspective.
Educators also stated that they fully endorse the initiative and believe the programme can provide tremendous benefits for students through discipline, focus, networking opportunities, physical activity, and personal development.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to expand the reach of golf among Guyana’s youth and educational institutions while making the sport more accessible to the public.
Hussain said this year’s preparations have been exceptional as it relates to the students getting there.
The Westside Golf Course is now fully open to the general public and proudly stands as Guyana’s only public golf course.
The facility welcomes families, professionals, students, and visitors to enjoy golf in a relaxed and scenic environment.
