Kaieteur Sports – After four electrifying nights of action, the Georgetown Zone of the Guinness “Greatest of the Streets” Championship reaches its semifinal’s climax tonight, April 29, at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac, with a doubleheader that promise some riveting action.
The opening encounter will see former champions Leopold Street take on New Bay Ballers (formerly Tiger Bay) in what many are already describing as a “virtual final.” Both teams boast rich histories, but Leopold Street, with a title already in the bag, may hold a slight edge over the new faced Tiger Bay side. Their passionate fan bases on both sides of the fence will expect nothing short of a championship performance. With experience and pride on the line, neither team is expected to give an inch in pursuit of a place in the final.

Tonight, features two exciting encounters at the Cultural Centre tarmac as Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ decides its Georgetown finalists.
The second semifinal pits two of the tournament’s breakout teams; Island All Stars, a crafty unit, and Bent Street B, backed by several promising junior talents in a matchup guaranteed to produce a first-time finalist. Both sides, considered dark horses, have played with confidence and fearlessness, dismantling several established opponents along the way.
With close to $2 million in prize money and trophies at stake, along with an automatic berth in the National Guinness Finals, the incentive is firmly in place for a pulsating night of street football.
Judging from the support over the past few nights, a massive turnout is expected. Leopold Street and New Bay Ballers traditionally attract strong followings, while the rise of Island All Stars and Bent Street B is also likely to mobilize support from their respective communities.
Interestingly, all four semifinalists began their campaigns as underdogs but have delivered standout performances to reach this stage, eliminating formidable street football giants such as Back Circle, Gold is Money, Sparta Boss, and defending champions Laing Avenue along the way.
Tonight’s action will begin with the Plate Championship, featuring North East La Penitence, Festival City, Team Cruel, National All-Stars, Sparta Boss, Gold is Money, Laing Avenue, and Albouystown—setting the tone for what promises to be a blockbuster night of street football.
With pride, prize money, and progression on the line, Georgetown is set for a semifinal spectacle that could redefine the balance of power in the sport.
