UCCA Cricket season set to resume today

…over $5M pumped into sponsorship

Kaieteur Sports – The 2026 edition of the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) Price Is Right T20 cricket competition is set to get underway today.

The competition, which is sponsored exclusively by Danesh Roopnarine [Boyco] of the Price Is Right Supermarket, is the biggest in Berbice and possibly Guyana.

The competition, which is in its third edition, is for teams in the Upper Corentyne area.

Some 24 teams are slated to participate in the competition. The final is slated to be played on the 30th August, 2026.

Sponsor Danesh Roopnarine presents uniforms and balls to the participating teams.

Over 5 million dollars has been pumped into the competition by the sponsors.

Massive rewards totaling over $1M, including cash, trophies, gear, equipment and other incentives are up for grabs.

The champion team, the runner-up and the losing semi-finalists will all be rewarded handsomely.

Prizes will also be presented to the best batsman, best bowler and MVP in the final.

In addition, the tournament’s top-performing wicketkeeper, batsman with most runs and the bowler with most wickets will also be rewarded.

The final will be live-streamed on multiple platforms.

The sponsor has provided 24 complete uniforms to the participating teams.
