Kaieteur Sports – A workman-like unbeaten ton from Volcanoes veteran Sunil Ambris shifted the momentum slightly back in favor of his team, leaving the Guyana Harpy Eagles a stiff 194-run target for victory with almost all their batters intact and potentially a full final day’s play ahead today at the Sir Viv Richards Ground.
After Gilon Tyson finished with 5 wickets to help restrict Guyana to 264 all out in the first innings following a pair of half-centuries from Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kemol Savory; Ambris rolled back the clock as he controlled the day.
The ex-West Indies batsman rolled back the years, digging deep for his 107 not out, facing 176 deliveries and smashing 17 fours which helped the Volcanoes post a 2nd innings score of 209 all out.
Volcanoes’ next best second innings scorer Shadrack Descarte (39) in support of Ambris, fought back but failed to stop the mixed bowling attack of the Harpy Eagles.

Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie added 4 more wickets to his first innings 6-fer to end with 10 wickets overall.
Pacers Nial Smith (2-47) and Keemo Paul (2-31), were good seam up; while the pair of left-handers in Veerasammy Permaul (2-53) and by far the star of the match, Gudakesh Motie who added 4-46 to his first innings haul of 6-73; gave their team something to bat for during the remainder of Day 3 and a full day’s play ahead.
The Eagles were dealt a huge blow when they lost Kevlon Anderson (4) who was promoted to open, for yet another cheap score.
Matthew Nandu (7*) and Tevin Imlach, who was aggressive for his 27* off 38 (5×4), took the Eagles to 38-1 batting a second time, with a crucial final day ahead.
Day 4 action continues with Guyana needing a bit of patience and tempered aggression in pursuit of their first win of the season.
In other games: Trinidad & Tobago (507-5 Dec.) beat Leeward Hurricanes (1st innings 138 all out & 98-10 2nd innings) by 271 runs.
