Kaieteur Sports – Legendary West Indies and Guyana cricketer and two-time ICC World Cup winner, Alvin Kallicharran, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Commissioner of Police ‘Administration’ Ravindradat Budhram on Tuesday, March 11, 2026, at his Office at Eve Leary. Accompanying the legend was the Chairman of Cricket West Indies Masters Association, Mr. Raj Singh.

During the visit, Kallicharran presented Deputy Commissioner Budhram, who serves as Chairman of the Guyana Police Force Cricket Team and is a passionate supporter of the sport, with an autographed copy of his book titled Colour Blind: Struggle, Sacrifice and Success of the Cricket Legend.
Kallicharran, is widely regarded as one of Guyana’s finest cricketing experts. A stylish left-handed batsman, he represented the West Indies cricket team with distinction during the 1970s and 1980s and was a member of the victorious squads at the 1975 Cricket World Cup and the 1979 Cricket World Cup. Over the course of his international career, he played 66 Test matches and scored 4,399 runs with 12 centuries and around 9 dismissals in the 90s, earning recognition for his elegant stroke play and resilience at the crease against all quality and type of bowling. Kalli is always remembered for his ferocious attack against Dennis Lillee when he scored 31 runs off 10 deliveries creaming him to all parts of the ground.
The visit provided an opportunity for discussions on cricket development and the continued promotion of the sport within the Guyana Police Force.
Deputy Commissioner Budhram expressed appreciation for the gesture and noted that the Force remains committed to encouraging sports, particularly cricket, as part of its wider efforts to promote discipline, teamwork and healthy engagement among ranks. The meeting also highlighted the enduring influence of Kallicharran’s legacy on generations of cricketers in Guyana and across the Caribbean.
