Kaieteur Sports – Transport Club will square off against the Positive Foundation Agricola team in the finals of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Georgetown City Mayor’s Under-17 Hundred Overs tournament.
Playing at home this past weekend, Transport Sports Club surged to a 7-wicket victory over Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) to clinch their spot in the finals.
Demerara ended on 196 for 8 with Kishawn Silasn (40), Lomar Seecharran (36) and Nathan Bishop (32) leading the innings.
All-rounder Reyaz Latiff snared 4-50 to lead Transport, which in turn saw a scorching 61-ball 116 from West Indies U19 batsman Shamar Apple, who slammed 13 maximums and a quartet of fours.
Lewis, like Apple also continued his form from the U19 tournament by chipping in with 34 which propelled Transport to 199 for 3 in the 25th over.
Meanwhile, action at the Malteenoes Ground, witnessed Agricola booking their spot in the finals by virtue of a 30-run win over Malteenoes Sports Club.
Gavin Kisten stroked 70 with support from Gilbert Griffith (41), who steered Agricola to 221 in 40 overs.
Bowling for Malteenoes was led by Kyle Gibson who returned with figures of 3-33, but sadly his team could only reach 191 all pout in the 40th over.
Julian Craig (36) and Joshua Budhram (36) tried but failed. Griffith completed a good all-round game as he returned with exceptional figures of 3-22.
