Kaieteur Sports – The 13th Biennial General meeting of The National Draughts Association was held last Thursday in the Board Room of Transport Sports Club.
Jiaram returned as President of the Association while Paul D’Anjou was elected as Vice President. Charles Hetmyer is the Finance Secretary. Hetmyer is also holding the Secretary’s position since Marilyn Ali quit the post due to health issues.
Organiser for Region 10 is Floyd Cumberbatch and Steve Bacchus is the lone Organiser for Region 4. It is likely that Region 5 and 6 will be getting an Organiser since some visible activities can be seen in those Regions.
Attorney at Law Elias Gentle has been retained as Legal advisor. Other Executive members are Wayne Forde, Patrick DeFreitas, Balleram Ramdeen and Reywattie Tandool.
One former member who was also a Coordinator in Region 4 was removed from the post due to non functional and other issues still to be settled with the Vice President.
Dr. Ivor English is the head of the Transport Draughts Club which recently renewed its membership.
Jiaram said that 2025’s financial report was sent to the National Sports Commission along with a proposal and Budget. A detailed amount for the Pan American Games in Paramaribo in April 26 and Open International Tournament in Trinidad and Tobago was amongst the documents submitted.
