Kaieteur Sports – The cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) on Saturday last honoured several teachers and secondary school students under their Heeria Seenarine Memorial Tribute to Teachers and Dropattie Ramsammy Tribute to Students programmes respectively. The club also honoured four employees of the Rose Hall Town Council under its Tribute to Town Council Employees programme.

The awards ceremony was held at the St. Francis Community Developers Hall and newly inducted RHTYSC Patron, Minister of Housing Collin Croal, was the guest speaker. The cricket teams that organised the award programmes were the Poonai’s Pharmacy Under 11 and 13, Farfan and Mendes Ltd Under 16, Bakewell Under 17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under 19, Metro Female and Namilco Thunderbolt Flour Under 23 and First Division.
The teachers were selected by the administration of the nine schools and were selected based on their performance in 2025. The awardees under the Heeria Seenarine Memorial Tribute to Teachers programme were:
Each of the awardees received two special gifts, a medal of excellence, framed certificate and a trophy.
The cricket teams also honoured five outstanding students of the Lower Corentyne Secondary School under the Dropattie Ramsammy Tribute to Students Award.

The club presented each top student with an electronic tablet, an educational package, a trophy, a medal and framed certificate of excellence.

Club Secretary Hilbert Foster stated that the two ceremonies were held under the RHTYSC “Say Yes to Education” programme and was sponsored by U.S.A. registered nurse Dropattie Ramsammy, a former student of the Lower Corentyne Secondary School. Ramsammy congratulated the awardees and urged them to always strive for excellence. She stated that her success in life was due to the educational background she acquired in Guyana and she wanted to assist others to fulfill their ambitions for the future.
Mayor of Rose Hall Town Dave Budhu and Town Clerk Natasha Griffith both congratulated the winners of both awards and praised the RHTYSC and Ramsammy for recognizing the achievements of the teachers and students.
Minister of Housing Collin Croal, in a well-received featured address, spoke of the importance of education and also praised the work of the RHTYSC over the years in the fields of sports, culture and education. He urged the awardees to use their awards as an inspiration to greater success in the future. The Minister pledged to use his position of Honorary Patron of the club to make a positive difference in the lives of youths.
Meanwhile, four employees of the Rose Hall Town Council were also honoured as part of Guyana’s 56th Republic anniversary celebration. Those recognised for their outstanding contribution in 2025 were:
The awardees were selected by the administration of the Council based on their work ethics, attendance and personal discipline. Each of the four awardees received a trophy, medal, framed certificate and a special gift from the RHTYSC.
