Kaieteur Sports – Veteran Trinidad and Tobago spin ace Anisa Mohammed bagged 8 wickets during her magical spell which sent Guyana plummeting to a 9 wicket loss just a day after securing their first win of the tournament.
By far their worst performance of this Women’s Regional season, Guyana in a shameful display were routed for 31 all out inside 17 overs after one of the best bowling exhibitions at this level by the ex-West Indies player Mohammed, who bagged 8-11 from 8.5 overs.
The magical spell left Guyana in disarray as no player reached double figures.
Trinidad then skipped to 32-1 after Djenaba Joseph (11*) and Karishama Ramharack (11*) drove home in just 11 overs and 234 balls remaining. Guyanese spinner Ashmini Munisar claimed a solitary wicket.
In the other two matches which were a bit more competitive, Jamaica beat Barbados by 27 runs after scoring 132 all out after Rashada Williams hit 43.
It was another good bowling performance from the Bajan duo of Shamilia Connell (3-24) and Naijanni Cumberbatch (4-23), but their team was then kept to 105-10, thanks to 9 wickets between Celina Whyte (5-18) and Stafanie Taylor (4-17).
Qiana Joseph hit 44 to help Leewards post 125 all out, which failed to keep Windward Islands from getting to their eventual score of 126-7 to seal a 3 wicket win.
Skipper Janiella Glasgow who grabbed a few wickets earlier, returned to score a match-winning 54*, despite two wickets apiece from Shawnisha Hector and Davronique Maynard.
The third and final round bowls off tomorrow, Saturday with Leewards playing Jamaica, Trinidad battling Barbados, while the Windwards face off against Guyana; with matches bowling off from 9:30h respectively. (Clifton Ross)
