(Kaieteur News) – Canadian miner G2 Goldfields Inc. has announced that as it pushes its eight drill rigs at its gold project in Guyana, results have shown strong mineralisation potential at width and at depth for the Oko-Ghanie Project.
G2 is currently in the process of being acquired by fellow Canadian firm G Mining Ventures Corp. (GMIN), which owns the adjacent gold property in Region Seven for some US$2.2 billion (C$3 billion).
G2’s in its latest update said that it has eight drill rigs active at the Oko project focused on infill, expansion and discovery drilling.
It noted that the infill holes return high-grade intercepts, highlighting the length, grade and depth of the holes drilled. G2 said the deepest hole drilled to date intersected 84.5 metres at 3.0 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 915 metres, extending mineralisation by some 140 metres vertically to a depth of one kilometre.
The results were announced from the Ghanie deposit, where assay results were reported for 22 new diamond drill holes totalling 10,828 metres. G2 said that the latest drilling successfully extended high-grade ‘down-plunge’ at the Ghanie deposit, upgraded and confirmed central infill mineralisation, and extended gold mineralisation south of the existing Ghanie resource along the “Border Zone.”
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of G2, Daniel Noone stated, “These results continue to demonstrate the strong growth potential at the Oko Project, with mineralisation remaining open both along strike and at depth. With eight drill rigs active, we remain focused on expanding and upgrading resources while advancing additional near-mine and district-scale targets across the greater Oko project area, which currently hosts 7 million ounces indicated and 2.3 million ounces inferred across two adjacent deposits. This round of drilling clearly suggests this tier 1 gold camp has significant room to grow.”
On April 9, G2 entered into a definitive agreement whereby neighbouring GMIN will acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of G2. G2 and GMIN transaction will consolidate the two adjacent gold projects in Guyana: G2’s Oko-Ghanie Project and GMIN’s fully permitted and fully financed Oko West Project. Acquiring G2 will bring the Combined Measured & Indicated Mineral Resources of 7.0 million ounces and Inferred Mineral Resources of 2.3 million ounces.
The deal is expected to close in June 2026, subject to shareholder and court approvals.
In December 2025, G2 released key findings from an independent Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) outlining a combined open pit and underground operation with a 14-year mine life and estimate total production of 3.2 million ounces gold at all-in sustaining costs (AISC) of US$1,191 per ounce. Annual production is projected to average 298,000 ounces during years 3 through 10.
