Kaieteur Sports – Former Essequibo Under-19 opening batsman Mark Austin struck a blistering, unbeaten 68 to pilot Reliance Hustlers into the final of the North Essequibo Cricket Committee (NECC)/Jairam Bessesar T20 competition.
Playing last Sunday at Reliance Sports ground, Essequibo Coast, Region 2, the right-handed Austin hit five fours and three sixes as Reliance Hustlers reached a competitive 156-1 from the reduced 17-over, while Walton Hall replied with 148-9 at the expiration of the 17-overs.
The reduction of the overs was due to rain.
Austin got excellent support from Raj Gourdeen who made 57 not out.
For the visitors, D. Hurrill scored a fighting 62 as pacer Ryan Shivamber grabbed 4-25 from his maximum four overs on a responsive pitch.
Ex-Guyana youth player Rovindra Parsram supported Shivamber with 2-17 from three off-spin overs.
The championship game is billed this Sunday at Jagmohan ground from 1pm. Reliance Hustlers will tackle IIS Sports Club.
