Everest cricket awards ceremony recognizes top performers of 2025
Kaieteur Sports – EVEREST Cricket Club (ECC) recently held their awards ceremony to recognise outstanding individual performances among members in the calendar year 2025.
The gala event was held in the club’s renovated banquet hall where outstanding cricketers at the Second Division, First Division and Masters categories were honoured.
The rich history of the club was reflected upon, as the century-old venue has seen tons of iconic players pass through its system, with the future still looking as bright as ever given the immense talent pool which the club has kept full over the years.

Among the top awardees in the 1st division categories, Guyana Harpy Eagles and West Indies Test opener, Tagenarine Chanderpaul (142 runs) bagged the club’s prestigious Batsman of the Year Award. Left-arm spinner, Javed Rasheed, who had 14 wickets from 5 matches, copped the Bowler of the Year Award, thus sealing off the category.
For the 2nd Division, National U-17/U-19 all-rounder, Nityanad Mathura bagged dual awards, first the Batsman of the Year for his 139 runs, before the leg-spinner claiming the Best Bowler Award for his 17 scalps (5 games played).
The 3rd category, the Masters, was dominated by Hemraj Garbarran who walked away with the Best Batsman Award.
The former Windies U19 player, stroked a whopping 374 runs to run away with the award, as his teammate and another former national spinner in Lookeshwar Mahabeer was for the 3rd straight year judged the Bowler of the Year for his 28 scalps.

A few honorable mentions in the Masters Category were Vishan Lall (87 not out) and Shazam Ramjohn (87), who were recognised for scoring the Highest Individual Scores. Surujdeo Ramdeen (5-23) captured the Best Individual Bowling Figures, the only 5-fer recorded in the Masters category.
Meanwhile, the young Chanderpaul was also recognised for his recall to the West Indies Test side, while Guyana Harpy Eagles Super50 skipper Matthew Nandu was lauded for leading Demerara to a successful title defence in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Senior Men’s Inter-County Super50 championship, as well as his national captaincy.
Another Harpy Eagles player in all-rounder Richie Looknauth, was also rewarded for making his First-Class debut for the Guyana, while Mathura was honoured for making the National U19 side in 2025.
Masters all-rounder Antonell Atwell was one of four Everest Masters that were in the West Indies Over-40s team during the recent over-40s Cricket World Cup in Pakistan, where he was recognised for being the MVP of the tourney.
Meanwhile, Captain of the Everest Masters, Rajesh Singh thanked as many people, entities and overall supporters of the club during the year 2025. The former Everest Club president urged all players to strive for continued fitness to continue to give dedicated service to their respective teams.
Meanwhile, Former West Indies openers Rajendra Chandrika and Ryan Ramdass were also a part of the ceremony and played a big role during the presentation of awards.
