GuyanaNRA National Championships: Immaculate marksmanship seals championship for Captain Dylan Fields
Kaieteur Sports – He has led by example and has been flawless on all three days of the Guyana National rifle Association 2025 Championships which delivered him the title on the final day, Sunday November 30.
On a day which presented many challenges for all the competitors, Dylan Fields, like he did on the previous two Sunday, won the day’s aggregate which cemented his claim on the grand aggregate and bragging rights for the next year as the best rifle shooter in the Land of Many waters.

The 2024 winner, Sherwin Felicien had to settle for the runner-up position just ahead of the elder stateman, Lennox Braithwaite, Peter Persaud, Fullbore Vice Captain Leo Romalho and Ryan Sampson in that order.
Day one saw Fields winning the day’s aggregate (128.3) three points ahead of Felicien, day two was the same (131.7) so he had to just remain consistent on the final day which he did to seal championship honours.

Fields commented, “I was looking forward to this yearend championship as I have been rebuilding my shooting technique for about the last two years. I have been able to become consistent meaning even when I have a bad day, I should still be able to maintain a high standard.
This has been not only looking at my technique but by having a critical look at the basics of what is required to have my equipment at an optimal level. Whenever I have a result that I cannot explain I would endeavor to discover why, so that it would not happen again.

That said, I was pushed all the way by Sherwin and Lennox and I enjoyed the competition and camaraderie of the members who took part. I am looking forward to the continued progress of the members especially the junior ones.”
The lone female in the championship Kay-Ann Ghanie ended as the top junior (O Class) shooter ahead of Chaflain Velloza who only contested two of the three days. The presentation of prizes to all the top performers will be held shortly.
