Kaieteur Sports – Demerara and Essequibo racked up commanding wins yesterday when action in the Guyana Cricket Board Inter- County U13 tournament bowled off today with a first-round double-header first round.
At the Lusignan Ground, Demerara batting first, made a reasonable 167-10 in 39.4 overs and had a string of contributions from opener Nathaniel Ramkhelawan (28), Lomar Seecharran (19), Afraz Khan (20*) and 13 runs apiece from Mario Singh and Jasani Craig.
Berbice had a decent bowling outing, with Kelvin Henry (2-32), Afraz Ali (2-14) and Khemraj Bharrat (2-14) leading the charge.
In reply, Berbice Ali stroked 55 while skipper Shahid Gajnabi hit 22 as Berbice slipped to 112 all out, after solid returns from the Demerara duo of Ramkelawan (3-4) and Deshawn Ramnauth (2-15), to inspire a huge win.
Over at LBI, The Cinderella County boys racked up 196 all out thanks to a brisk 59 off 47 from opener Timothy Ramdat (5×4 4×6).
Help came from the likes of Marcanthony Obermuller who hit 30 off 20 balls (2×3 3×6) and Marcus Thomas who had a modest 36 with 3 sixes.
Medium-pacer Aaron DaCosta starred with 4-36 while skipper Tyler Nedd (2-14) and Andrew Narine (2-29) grabbed wickets for the GCB XI.
The Select XI were then routed for 76 all out inside 30 overs thanks to 3 wickets from Ishwar Tillack and Fayad Baksh’ returns of 2-3.
Only opener Ravindranauth Naikarran (13) and Nicholas Madramatoo (11) reached double-digits in a horrendous loss.
