Kaieteur Sports – Three centuries and two fifers and an outstanding all-round performance helped Tucber Park Cricket club crush a hapless West Berbice by an inning and 412 runs.
In the game played at the Cotton Tree Cricket Ground, West Berbice took first strike and were skittled out for 97 in 28 overs. With A. Khan 29 and Adrian Dutchin 20 being the only batsman to offer any resistance to the relentless Tucber Park bowling attack.
Bowling for Tucber Park U 17 leftarm spinner Gilbert Griffith Jr. led the way with figures of 5 for 35. He got good support from offspinner Joemal LaFleur and Zeynul Ramsammy with two wickets each.
In reply, led by centuries from Malcom Mickle with an unbeaten 121 and Tomani Ceaser with 107 retired hurt, Tucber Park ended day one in a commanding position of 323 for one. The two shared a second-wicket partnership of 225.
Resuming day two, the Tucber Park batsmen continued to pulverize the West Berbice bowling as they piled up a massive 573 for 5 declared. Overnight centurion Malcom Mickle added a further 50 runs to finish with a top score of 173. Zeynul Ramsammy, who resumed on 57, added a further 102 to end with 159. Getting in on the act, allrounder Kwesi Mickle made 51 while Garfield Benjamin was 15 not out.
Facing a deficit of 476, West Berbice offered no resistance in their second inning to be skittled out for a paltry 64 in 24.2 overs with Rashad Gafur scoring 32.
Bowling for Tucber Park, former Berbice U19 off spinner Abdul Ramsammy took 5 for 33 while Kwesi Mickle returned to take 4 for 14.
Tucber Pak has played unbeaten in Zone A and is expected to play the runnerup of Zone B when the semifinals are played. (Samuel Whyte)
