Kaieteur Sports – Mercenary carted off the 2025 Ontario Softball Cricket League (OSCL) T20 trophy after humiliating Caribbean Sensation by five wickets with a whopping 79 balls to spare on Sunday at St.Bedes ground, Scarborough.
After winning the toss and opted to bowl, Mercenary decimated the defending champions Caribbean Sensation for a paltry 45 in the 12th over.
They, in reply, lost five wickets when chased down the total.
Led the demolition job for Mercenary was Canada-based Guyanese Avinash Sookdeo who grabbed 6-12 from 3.5 memorable overs.
Only skipper Fareed Juman reaching double-figures (14) for the Sensation boys.
Supporting the unplayable Sookdeo was Richard Latif with 2-5 from his maximum four overs.
In Mercenary’s shaky batting, Amit Rukhram scored an unbeaten 16 as Juman returned with the ball to capture 3-25 off 2.4 overs.
Sookdeo on Saturday was also phenomenal having claimed 5-12 against Better-Hope in the semifinal at the same venue.
At the presentation just after the final fixture, Sookdeo was nominated as the player-of-the-match for his outstanding, bowling performance.
Mercenary also won the preceding 15 and 10-over competitions making a clean-sweep.
Last year they were beaten by the same opposition in the championship encounter.
President of the OSCL and another Canada-based Guyanese Shiv Persaud extended congratulations to Mercenary.
Persaud also thanked all eight teams for their participation and the sponsors received similar sentiments as well.
