Maraj Contracting Services on board with the 2nd edition of the Region 3 Ten/10 Softball Cup

Kaieteur Sports – Maraj Constructing Services has once again given its support towards the 2nd Region 3 Softball Cup, which gets on the way on Sunday, 7th September at the Meten Meer Zorg (West), West Coast Demerara, and concluding on the 14th of September 2025 at the said venue.

Managing Director of the Company, Mr. Sattrohan Maraj, said that he is very pleased that his entity is once again given the opportunity to support this second edition of the annual tournament, and his company sees it as a way of supporting the development of sports in communities and also as part of his social responsibilities.

The Managing Director said that grassroots games like these bring out the potential in young, upcoming cricketers because all of the cricket is where it all starts. He further said that youths have an opportunity to be part of cricket at the lowest level and to show their skills and abilities they have in the game.

Mr. Maraj said not only cricketers get to be involved, but also the entire community by going out and supporting their village teams and players. He sees this as a stepping stone in bringing together our people across the divide.

Miss. Rajkumarie Ragoobar, executive assistant at the company, said that she is also pleased that the company is on board with the tournament and wishes all the players, management, and organisers all the best.

Representative of RS Sports, Ms. Akaze Thompson, thanks Mr. Maraj and his company for supporting the tournament for the second year, and their support for it plays an integral role in developing young cricketers towards a brighter future in the sport.

Ms. Thompson went on to say that they look forward to more collaborative efforts as they are geared and prepared to ensure they promote positive things for the young and old to be involved in.

The competition will be played based on ten overs aside affairs and a one-game knock-out format with round-arm bowling in place.

The tournament will be played based on a one-game knock-out format with round arm and risk bowling, and caters for both male and female categories. The male category will kick off the tournament on the 7th, and the female category will be in action on the 14th, with both categories’ playoffs also on the 14th.

The winning male team is guaranteed $200,000, and the female $100,000, and trophies, while cash incentives and trophies will be given to the runner-up teams, MVPs, players of the finals, best bowlers in an innings, most runs scored in an innings, and trophies will be awarded to the player of the match in each game.

According to the organisers, softball cricket is the grassroots of all cricket, allowing young, local, talented players to showcase and develop their skills in the game, and helping them progress to various levels of cricket.

Softball cricket at the grassroots level not only allows local players to showcase their talents but also brings people together, regardless of race, religion, social status, or political affiliations.

Supporting the two-day tournament are 3 S Legacy Enterprise, Paint Palace, Rewind Restaurant and Lounge, Caribbean Building Concepts and logistics, Zony General Service and Auto Sales, Archie & Son Stone and Sand Supply, Khrishna Mangal & Sons Sawmill and Lumber Yard, S. Maraj Contracting Services, and Century Spring Water.

According to the organisers, there will be lots of side attractions for the entire family, and calling on all to support the tournament as it will be bringing people together through sports.
