Kaieteur Sports – A whirlwind half-century from power-hitter Romario Shepherd failed to stop the Guyana Amazon Warriors from suffering a 4-wicket win over the St. Lucia Kings last night when action continued in the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 Cricket tournament.
Playing at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium, Shepherd carried the innings with his fireworks, launching 7 sixes and five fours to carry his bat unbeaten on 73 as Guyana piled on 202-6 in 20 overs.
Opener Ben McDermott (30), Iftahkar Ahmed (33), Shai Hope (23) and Pretorius (18) supported the Warriors cause of posting a huge first innings.
Kings then utilized the services of Tim Seifert (37) and a masterful Ackeem Auguste who hit a 35-ball 73 with seven sixes, Tim David (25) and Aaron Jones (16) to help post 203-6 in 18.1 overs and win the contest with 11 balls remaining.
Only seamer Jediah Blades (3-32)) and left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie (2-34) kept the chase interesting for Guyana.
