Kaieteur Sports – Just as things were set for the restart of cricket competitions in Berbice, the inclement weather continues, thus upsetting all plans by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) to resume cricket in the County.
In addition to the unpredictable weather, the unprepared state of most of the grounds due to the lengthy rainy season has forced the BCB to rethink its decision.
The BCB had organized a two days first division Round Robin cricket competition for clubs in the county. This competition was slated to start yesterday, Saturday 9th August.
There are 10 teams listed to participate in the competition. The teams have been divided into two zones with each zones having five teams. The teams in the two zones will play each other once with the top two teams qualifying to oppose the top two in the other zone. The winner of one zone will play the runner up of the other zone. The two winners will then clash in the final.
The teams scheduled to participate are: Zone A – Blairmont Community Centre Cricket Club, West Berbice Cricket Association, Tucber Park Cricket Club, Young Warriors Cricket Club and Rose Hall Community Centre Cricket Club
Zone B comprise of Skeldon Community Centre Cricket Club, Port Mourant Community Centre Cricket Club, Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club/ Namilco, Albion Community Centre Cricket Club and Police Cricket Club. (Samuel Whyte)
