ExxonMobil Boys’ and Girls’ U14 Football C/ships to kick off today

The tournament is part of the School’s TVET Development Programme

Kaieteur Sports – Following a delayed start due to inclement weather, the sixth annual ExxonMobil Boys’ and Girls’ U14 Football Championship is expected to commence today at 11:00 hrs at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Initially set to commence last weekend (June 21 – 22), excessive rainfall made the playing surface unfit forced the organising team, the Petra Organisation, to tentatively reschedule the opening date.

The tournament promises three weeks of thrilling rivalries, budding talent, and spirited competition. Teams from across the country including nine of ten regions are set to battle for early bragging rights and ultimately championship glory.

The championships will begin with the traditional March Past ceremony at 10:00 hrs.

To open the Girls’ division, Chase’s Academic Foundation takes on East Ruimveldt Secondary, while Marian Academy clashes with Bushlot Secondary, and St Joseph High faces Charlestown Secondary, all scheduled to kick off simultaneously at 11:00 hrs.

Continuing in the Girls’ segment at 11:45 hrs with six more fixtures are; Abrams Zuil vs Yarrowkabra Secondary, Bartica Secondary vs Christ Church Secondary, Wakapoa Secondary vs New Central High, President’s College vs West Ruimveldt Secondary, Waramuri Secondary Top vs New Campbellville Secondary, Dolphin Secondary vs Vryman’s Erven Secondary and Good Hope Secondary vs Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary

The Boys’ action begins at 12:30 hrs, featuring another set of high-energy matches. First up, see; South Ruimveldt Secondary going up against Cotton Field Secondary concurrently to that; Charity Secondary will take on President’s College and Abrams Zuil will tackle New Central High.

Following these, several more key matchups are slated, including; Three Mile Secondary vs Vreed-en-Hoop Secondary, Bushlot Secondary vs Yarrowkabra Secondary, Mackenzie High vs Dolphin Secondary, Christ Church Secondary vs New Amsterdam Secondary and Marian Academy vs St Joseph High, a potential early tournament blockbuster

After a brief break, the day’s proceedings will conclude with a flurry of eight exciting Boys’ division fixtures; Belladrum Secondary vs Bygeval Secondary, Leonora Secondary vs Lodge Secondary, West Demerara Secondary vs Charlestown Secondary, West Ruimveldt Secondary vs Hope Secondary, Brickdam Secondary vs East Ruimveldt Secondary, Chase’s Academic Foundation vs Good Hope Secondary, Waramuri Secondary vs Annandale Secondary and St John’s Secondary vs North Ruimveldt Secondary.
