Kaieteur Sports – Guyanese Bikini queen Christina Ramsammy has etched her name in the annals of national sporting history, becoming the first Guyanese to earn an International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) Pro Card on home soil. Her milestone achievement came at the sixth edition of the ‘One Guyana’ Stage of Champions, held Saturday last at the iconic National Cultural Centre.
Under the bright stage lights and the eager gaze of a packed crowd, Ramsammy delivered a flawless performance in the Bikini Open Division, confidently capturing the title and securing her Pro Card. She outclassed a talented lineup that included Meyer Charelle, Sabita Stephenson, and Ralissa Weleleer, who placed second, third, and fourth respectively.
This landmark event marked Guyana’s first professional bodybuilding qualifier, sanctioned by the IFBB, and saw not just Ramsammy but also Surinamese standouts Rafael Kromokarijo and Marlon Henery awarded prestigious Pro Cards. In addition to the Bikini Open, Pro Cards were awarded in the Men’s Physique, Women’s Bikini, and Men’s Bodybuilding Overall categories, with champions also taking home lucrative cash prizes.
Ramsammy’s triumph is the culmination of years of hard work and perseverance. Having consistently impressed on the national stage and at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championships, she now takes her place among the elite as Guyana’s newest professional athlete. Her success builds upon the recent momentum in local bodybuilding, following Emmerson Campbell’s historic CAC gold medal last year.
“This is a moment that will live on in Guyana’s sporting history,” Ramsammy said after her win. “To earn my Pro Card here, in front of my people, is truly special. I hope this inspires more women to pursue their dreams in fitness and sport.”
Another standout moment came courtesy of Orlando Dublin, who delivered an awe-inspiring performance despite not clinching the top prize. With few expecting him to reach the final, Dublin defied the odds and advanced to the prestigious Pro Card showdown, showcasing raw power, passion, and stage presence.
While the Pro Card narrowly eluded him, Dublin’s journey was a victory in itself. His unwavering determination and electric presence lit up the stage and captured the hearts of fans present. He didn’t just compete, he battled like a warrior, with heart, mind, and soul, embodying the very spirit of a true physique titan.
President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF), Roger Callender, praised the efforts of all involved, especially highlighting Ramsammy’s trailblazing win.
“This historic moment would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the Honourable Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr. Charles Ramson Jr., whose dedication to developing sport and fitness in Guyana continues to uplift our athletes,” Callender said.
He also expressed gratitude to the IFBB and CAC for granting Guyana the honour of awarding Pro Cards locally, a significant milestone for both the country and the wider Caribbean fitness community.
“Our deepest thanks go to the international judges and officials who ensured a fair, professional competition,” he added. “To the athletes, you are all champions. Your passion and discipline elevate the sport to new heights. We can’t wait to see you all again, bigger, better, and stronger in 2026.”
Callender concluded with a heartfelt message to supporters: “To the fans, families, and sponsors who showed up in full force, thank you. Your support made this event a resounding success.”
This edition of the One Guyana Stage of Champions will be remembered as a transformative moment for local bodybuilding.
