Kaieteur Sports – The Petra Organisation continues to make significant strides in developing young players and, by extension, raising the standard of play in Georgetown. On Thursday, they concluded the coaching segment
of an informative two-day Child Safeguarding Programme.
Coaches and teachers participated in a vital Child Safeguarding and Coaching course, facilitated by Child
Protection Officer Orette Francois and renowned football coach Jamaal Shabazz.
According to the Organisation, participants expressed great satisfaction with the information shared, the
knowledge gained, and the practical football tactics and formations introduced. Throughout the two-day
workshop, several recommendations were made, and the Petra Organisation reaffirmed its commitment to
supporting such initiatives through continued sponsorship.
More importantly, teachers and coaches pledged to apply the knowledge gained in practical, meaningful
ways with their student-athletes.
Adding to the event’s significance, 2024 KFC International Goodwill Series MVP Raydon Kramer, who
recently returned from a training stint (another Petra-led initiative) in Brazil, also attended the closing
ceremony. He shared his experiences in Brazil with the coaches, offering insight and inspiration.
The two-day programme was sponsored by ExxonMobil as part of their preparations for the upcoming 6th
Boys’ and Girls’ Under-14 Tournament and was supported by the Ministry of Education.
