Kaieteur Sports- Organizers of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) T10 Independence Cup have pushed the event originally slated for this weekend, to Sunday July 6 at the LBI Ground due to bad weather.
The fund-raising event which was originally set for tomorrow May 25 was rescheduled to a later date in July after heavy rainfall ravaged the parts of the city over the past few days. Prior to its rescheduling, the tournament gained tons of traction as it found support in sponsorship from a number of local business entities.
Among the teams, Better Hope, Enterprise, Helena 1 and 2, Herstelling A, LBI, Lusignan, Meten-Meer-Zorg East and Transport Sports Club (TSC) will be vying for bragging rights but more importantly the top cash prize of GYD $500K in cash and prizes which will be awarded to the winners.
Start time is expected from 10:00h with activities running into the evening under floodlights. Proceeds from the tournament will be directed towards developing Youth and Female Cricket within the county of Demerara.
