Kaieteur Sports- The Blairmont Community Centre ground on the West Coast of Berbice is set to come alive this Sunday with the inaugural Floodlights Independence Cup 100 balls Cricket and Festival-Doomsday.
A number of top teams will be competing for monetary prizes when the action commencing at 9:30 am.
The teams confirmed their participation are: Albion Community Centre Cricket Club, Georgetown Cricket Club, Cotton Tree Cricket Club (Die-Hard), Young Warriors, West Berbice Superkings and the hosts Blairmont Blazers.
In the opening round, Albion will clash with West Berbice Superkings while in game 2, Cotton Tree (Die-Hard) will tackle GCC and game 3 will see Blairmont Blazers taking on Young Warriors.
And in the other fixture, will be the playoffs segment.
According to the organizers, in addition to the cricket entertainment, there will be other side attractions including Domino Competition, 3/side Volleyball, Horse-Back racing and Cartoon Character Walk Around.
There will be exposition booths of the sponsors goods and services.
Lucky fans will receive autography of Amazon Warriors Shirts from International player and Berbice cricketer Gudakesh Motie. Motie is also a regular member of Guyana Amazon Warriors team that featured in the annual Caribbean Premier League T20 extravaganza.
The organizers informed that a legion of reputable players will be on show and cricketing enthusiasts will be in for a treat from ball one.
There will be musical entertainment with live commentary coming from Regional and prominent cricket commentator Inderjeet Persaud who will be having former Berbice, Guyana and West Indies fast-bowler Brandon Bess in the Commentary Box as well.
While expressing their immense gratitude to the teams for coming out, the organizers also took the opportunity to thank their sponsors for the event.
