…Clubs thankful for NSC’s intervention
Kaieteur Sports- Following a meeting on Monday with Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, the 2025 Three-Stage Independence Race will proceed this weekend as previously planned, now under the guidance of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
Representatives from KFC Cycling Club, KARCC, Carlton Wheelers, Fly Ace, Flying Star, Team Coco, Continental, and Team Alanis met with Ninvalle on Monday, where the NSC reaffirmed its commitment to the championship; a longstanding fixture on the local cycling calendar.
In a release issued by the clubs, it was noted that despite initial uncertainty surrounding this year’s event, the NSC acted decisively by engaging directly with the country’s leading cycling clubs.
The statement further noted, that during the discussions, the Commission reaffirmed the race’s importance, not only as a major highlight of the national sporting calendar but also as a symbol of unity, youth engagement, and Guyana’s rich sporting heritage.
The clubs expressed their gratitude for the intervention and the open dialogue that followed, which led to the event being reinstated, much to the delight of cyclists, fans, and the general public.
The 2025 edition promises once again to deliver a thrilling showcase of talent and reinforcing the value of this historic event that continues to grow in prestige and participation.
The clubs commended the NSC’s commitment, logistical support, and willingness to listen and act in the best interest of the sport and its stakeholders.
According to the clubs, as they remain deeply invested in the growth and development of cycling in Guyana, they are ready to continue working alongside the Ministry and the NSC to further elevate the iconic race and support the national vision for sport and youth development.
