Beharry U19 School’s T20 Cricket tournament…

Kaieteur Sports – T20 School’s Under-19 cricket action continued yesterday on the West Side at the Uitvlugt Community Center Ground, with a few exciting games hosted at the venue and huge wins as teams look to continue their progression in the nationwide tournament.

St. Stanislaus College beat New Central High by 4 wickets

New Central were kept to a modest total of 89-9 in 13.2 overs after Peter Kan hit a top score of 34 with 6 fours.

Bowling for Saints was clinical as Noel Nihal 4-4 and Jessie Craig (2-0) kept a lid on the innings.

Their teammates Ishan Harricharran who scored 40* and Antonio Forde (16), to guide the city team to 93-6 in 16 overs.

Essequibo Island trounces Tuschen Secondary by 175-runs

Taking first strike, Essequibo Islands would pile on whopping 211-5 from 20 overs, led by Navendra Persaud (52*), Aarav Sukhram (44) and Dennis Crossman (14*).

The pair of Marresh Fredricks (2-27) and Jumol Morris (2-29) led Tuschen’s bowling but were unable to avoid their team crashing to 32-10 in the chase where none of their players reached double figures.

Essequibo’s Feyad Baksh (3-4), Demarcus Thomas (3-6) and national opener Justin Dowlin, who failed with the bat but grabbed 2-4 to help seal a comprehensive win.

Prior to the match, teams did their official march as part of the introduction, which was followed by remarks from a few of the sponsors including members of the Ministry of Education, representatives from sponsors Sterling Products, GBTI and facilitators Petra Organization. (Clifton Ross)
