Kaieteur Sports- In a dominant performance, top cyclist Andrea ‘Padlock’ Green on Sunday rode away with the Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) Easter Cycle Road race around the town of New Amsterdam.
The 10 laps event around the town of New Amsterdam which was for cyclists in Regions 5 and 6 was sponsored by a number of business entities in East Berbice.
The event, which saw some 14 riders taking part, saw the cyclists being sent on their way by New Amsterdam Mayor Mr. Wainwright McIntosh.

The race began at 13:00hrs at the junction of Charles Place and Republic Road. The riders then proceeded along Republic Road, turned left into Vryheid Street, left onto Main Road into Stanleytown, left into Tacama Turn unto Republic Road for 10 laps.
As the riders were sent on their way by Mayor McIntosh, Green showed that he meant business as he dominated proceeding to win all eight sprint prizes up for grabs.
Riding in second was veteran Junior Niles with two other veterans in Jaikarran Sookhai and Deon “Snow Cone” David occupying the other two spots.
The veteran category saw Niles, Sookhai, David and Clement Doris taking the top four spots.
Sidwell Sandy was the top Junior on show.
In the beginner’s category, riding home first was Dinesh Sookhai with Dookwan Edwards second.
Among the sponsors were Kurthland Thomas Fabrication and Construction Services, Franco Crawford Trucking Services, Sukhpaul Gas Station, Rafeek Kassim of Kascon Engineering, Aubrey David, J’s Supermarket, A. Ally and Sons, Jerome Bagot, Ajay Sohan, Anwar Shaffie, Impressive Signs, Junior Samuel, Diana General Enterprise, Dude Trucking Service, 4s Trucking Service and Building Enterprise.
The event was coordinated by cycling coach Randolph Roberts with assistance from overseas based Former National Cyclist and businessman Franco Crawford.
The FACC would also like to thank the Guyana Police Force for all their assistance and help in making the event the success it was.
