Kaieteur Sports- Affiance Sports Club surged to a comprehensive, 51-run win over Bacchus Cricket Club last Sunday in the 2025 North Essequibo Cricket Committee (NECC)/ Samaroo Investment T20 round-robin competition.
Playing at Bacchus venue, Affiance, racked up a competitive 142-8 from the allocation of 20-overs after deciding to bat first.
Bacchus Cricket Club responded with 93 all out in the 17th over. Pacer Bheesham Narine was sensational with the ball for Affiance taking 6-14 from 3.2 overs.
He wreaked havoc on a lively pitch leaving the hosts tottering on 61-7 at one stage. Standing among the carnage for Bacchus Cricket Club was Kevin Martinborough with 34 runs which eventually gave the score a great degree of respectability.
Earlier, former Guyana youth player and skipper Parmesh Parsotam led the way with the bat blasting an enterprising 41-ball 76 for the winning combination.
The right-handed Parsotam got quality support from the consistent Navindra Persaud who weighed in with 42 runs. Both batters reached the boundary on several occasions. The pair also featured in a steady, 98-run second-wicket stand after opener Ganesh Mangal succumbed early for 2 at 3-1.
Another ex-Guyana youth player Yogeshwar Lall took 3-19 runs in his three-over stint, delivering left-arm spin for Bacchus Cricket Club.
Affiance suffered a lower-order collapse as well with the versatile Lall doing most of the damage.
Meanwhile, the 12-team competition is slated to continue April 27 with a number of matches across the Coast.
In this zone B fixture, Affiance will clash with Lima while Bacchus Cricket Club is slated to collide with Devonshire Castle.
