Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Women’s hockey team concluded an excellent campaign on Saturday when they defeated host nation, Bermuda, to finish third in the 2024 PAHF Challenge, which was contested in Hamilton.
Playing in the third place showdown, following their 4 – 0 defeat to tournament powerhouse, Mexico, on Friday, the One Communications-sponsored team was able to rebound well to trounce Bermuda 2 – 1 in a tightly contested fixture.
On Friday, the Guyanese entered their match against Mexico undefeated but were outfoxed by the tournament finalist.
The event which ran from September 21 – 28 saw Guyana face Bermuda in their third encounter, which ended in a 1 – 1 draw. Before that, Guyana was able to get off to a get start with a victory over Brazil and drawn encounter with Paraguay.
Meanwhile, up to press time, the finalists, Mexico and Paraguay, were deadlocked at 2 at the end of the third quarter.
