Kaieteur Sports – The second round of play in the Banks DIH Limited GT Beer 5/5 overs 7-a-side Tapeball cricket competition in Berbice will take place on Sunday 21st at the Rose Hall Community Centre Ground in East Canje.
The activity which was launched at the Port Mourant Community Centre, Corentyne and Berbice, saw first round matches being played at the Skeldon Line Path Ground.
Some 10 teams have qualified from that round of matches and are expected to be in action again on Sunday in an effort to make it to the final. The teams that made it through are Sip and Play, Titans, Young Warriors, East Bank, Hunters, City Star, University of Guyana, Alive, Linepath Raptors and Canje Spartans.
Apart from those teams the following teams will have to play qualifying rounds of matches to move forward. The teams are Warriors King, Mount Sinai and Force 11.Apart from cricket action on the ground, Banks DIH Limited has organised a number of other activities that will cater for the entire family. There will be Trampoline for the kids, Bouncy castle, Face painting among other fun filled activities.
There will be plenty of food available and a well stock bar and lots of banks promotions. The quarterfinals, semifinals, third place play off and final will be played on Sunday 28th at The Port Mourant Community Centre. The final will be played under lights.
Over $400,000 in cash trophies and other incentives will be up for grabs. The winning team will walk away with $200,000 and the coveted Banks DIH trophy. There will also be cash and other incentives available for other top placed teams. Outstanding individual performers are also expected to be rewarded.
Interesting teams can contact Banks DIH Berbice Branch or Omesh Sirkissoon on 677-2826 for further information and clarity. Banks DIH Limited Berbice Branch Manager Nandram Basdeo in speaking at the launching ceremony had expressed gratitude to all involved in bringing the tournament to fruition.
Basdeo had also expressed optimism that the competition will become a beacon of excellence in the realm of sports. ‘Our culture our town’, Play starts at 09:30 hrs.
