Kaieteur Sports – In an effort to promote and encourage sports development in the country, the Executive Committee of the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has extended its support to the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) for the U19 Men’s National Team’s participation in the upcoming Rugby Americas North (RAN) U19 Championships. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Kingston, Jamaica, from July 12-16.
The significant partnership was celebrated at a ceremonious handover event held at the Olympic House on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023. The GOA President, Mr. Godfrey Munroe, expressed his pleasure in providing support to the Federation’s members, emphasizing the importance of such collaborations in enhancing the growth of sports in Guyana.
“It gives us great pleasure for the Guyana Olympic Association to lend our support to the Guyana Rugby Football Union and the U19 Men’s National Team. We recognize the immense talent and dedication displayed by these young athletes, and it is crucial that we provide them with the necessary resources and opportunities to excel on the international stage,” Munroe stated.

The GOA has continually played an integral role in supporting various sporting disciplines throughout the country. By extending its assistance to the GRFU, the GOA reinforces its commitment to fostering the growth and development of athletes, both on the local and international stage.
