Kaieteur Sports – The KFC Elite Football League’s fifth season, organized by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), continued on Tuesday evening at the GFF National Training Centre in Providence. The evening featured an exhilarating doubleheader, with matches between Guyana Defence Force FC and Milerock FC, as well as Santos FC and Buxton United FC.
After two exciting matches, GDF and Santos FC emerged victorious. GDF maintained their dominance in the league by defeating Milerock FC with a resounding 7-0 triumph, while Santos FC comfortably shutdown Buxton United 2-0.
However, the evening kicked off with an early goal extravaganza, as the army men found the net on seven occasions against Milerock FC. Cedric Osborne opened the scoring in the 8th minute, swiftly followed by Benjamin Opara three minutes later (11′). Chris Macey capitalised on his scoring opportunity in the 31st minute with a beautiful shot at goal, while Kenard Simon in the 44th, extended the lead to secure a 4-0 advantage at halftime.
GDF continued their goal-scoring spree in the second half, with Darrel George (50′), Stephen McDonald (58′), and Amos Ramsay (69′) all finding the back of the net in Tuesday night’s clash, as Milerock FC suffered a comprehensive 7-0 defeat at the hands of the dominant army side.
Meanwhile, Santos FC faced off against Buxton United FC in the other match. Santos FC successfully held off their opponents in a one-sided affair. Stefan Reynolds netted the first goal for his side in the 20th minute, then Lennox Young added another (goal) in the 44th minute. Despite Buxton United’s valiant efforts, they were unable to breach the solid Santos defence. Santos FC won 2-0.
The excitement continues today at the same venue, as Fruta Conquerors FC take on Western Tigers FC in the first match at 19:00 hours. This will be followed by a clash between Guyana Police Force FC and Ann’s Grove United FC at 21:00 hours.
