Kaieteur News – Match Two of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Men Senior inter county Four Day cricket tournament involving the Essequibo Men vs GCB Select XI, saw the match which was initially scheduled to be played at the Enmore Community centre ground but was rescheduled to the GNS due to poor playing conditions, being washed out at the Guyana National Stadium (GNS), Providence. Play started a bit late yesterday due to overnight showers.
However, play eventually got on the way at approximately 10:40hrs with a few clouds over the venue. The first round; match #2 of the Men’s Senior inter-county Four Day tournament between Essequibo and GCB Selected XI. Essequibo Men got off to a slow start losing three early wickets before rain interrupted play. Players and umpires were forced to leave the field around 12:15hrs as a result of rain with Essequibo 51-2.
Essequibo returned to bat, despite the dark clouds over the GNS. Play resumed just around 14:00hrs after about two hours of rain. Play was halted again due to another down pour; that session lasted only two overs; reaping one wicket for the GCB Selected XI and six runs for the Essequibo Men.
However, Essequibo Men finished the truncated day at 57-3, with Kemol Savory unbeaten on 13, while Keemo Paul yet to face a ball with Selected XI’s Sylus Tyndall and Demeter Cameron picking up one wicket a piece.
