Kaieteur News – Canje and LBI registered victories when the New York Softball League/West Indian Softball Association Premier Division 20-over competition continued on Sunday last at Baisley Park.
Canje defeated Citi Star by 18 runs to maintain their unbeaten run in the tournament and have qualified for the playoffs.
Batting first, Canjie managed 139-9. Sumesh Wazid made 31, Roger Laker scored 26, Moonsammy Permaul contributed 22 and Gomel Mattai 18. J. Gopaul grabbed 4-25. Citi Star were bowled out for 121 in 19.1 overs in reply. J. Rahim scored 32 as Ishwar Mohanlall picked up 3-22 and Shaun Khan 2-12.
LBI beat Rebels by five wickets. Rebels took first strike and scored 125-8. K. Ramroop struck 30 and Mark Bobb made 26. Abul Mulla claimed 3-30. LBI replied with 126-5 in 18 overs. Ryan Ramlall made 22 as Burjes Ramlall took 2-29. The competition will continue this weekend.
