Zameer Shaw’s brilliant 147 for No72 Cut and Load highlights round
A brilliant 147 by Zameer Shaw was the highlight of the second round of matches of the Trophy Stall and Upper Co
rentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) Under-19 Inter club cricket Tournament was played over the weekend.
Two matches were played in the competition which is in its second year as one team was disqualified for playing unregistered players. The games are being played on a one day 50 overs format.
Shaw was in brilliant form as he slammed 147 playing for No72 Cut and Load as they crushed NO52 Cricket Club by 359 Runs in their game played at the No72 ground.
No72 batted first and amassed 390 in 39.5 overs with Shaw 147 (22×4, 1×6) was supported by Chet Singh 73 (10×4, 2×6), Mukesh Edwards 34 and Somdat Chhatarghum 25.
Bowling for No52 there were three wickets for A. Ahamad, while C. Goolcharran and O. Campbell took two wickets each.
No52 in reply were bundled out for 31 in 11.2 overs. Bowling for No72 Cut and Load, Seeraj Chatterpaul picked up three wickets with Mukesh Edwards and Rasheed Ali picking up two each.
The other game was won by No43 Scorpions by 42 runs, but they were disqualified for playing unregistered players against No73 Mandir at No 73 ground.
No43 made 135 with M. Kisten 23, N. Drepaul 19 and B. Utom 14.
In bowling, J. Doobay with three wickets, T. Singh and V. Kumar with 2 wickets each lead the way for No73 Mandir, who was dismissed for 93 in 14.3 overs with K. Ramdass making 20, K. Heera 16 and Paul Sampat 15. The wicket takers for 43 Scorpions were N. Drepaul 4, N. Kerstin and I. Khemraj 2 each.
The fixtures for today, Saturday, will see Scottsburg being at home to No72 Cut and Load and No73 Young Warriors hosting No43 Scorpions.
The teams not playing are No73 Mandir and NO52 cricket Club.
The tournament is being sponsored by the Trophy Stall, Port Mourant Branch through its General Manager Ramesh Sunich.
The top teams at the end of the preliminary matches will advance to the semifinals with the winners clashing in the final.
The competition is being coordinated by former National Wicketkeeper batsman Sydney Jackman.
