Tagore Memorial Secondary School TMSS inflicted a whipping on Black Bush Polder Secondary (BBPS) by an innings and 88 runs in the fin
al game of the Bharat and Family U17 Inter Secondary Competition organised by the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA).
However, their exploits failed to gain them a spot in the final as Skeldon Linepath Secondary (SLPS) and Skeldon High School (SHS) qualified for the final of the competition being played for schools in the Upper Corentyne and Black Bush Polder areas.
Tagore took first strike after being inserted by BBPS and made 161-7 declared with Mark Lowenfield 64(4×6, 8×4), Y. Tahal 36 and R. Sookram 28 supported.
Bowling for BBPS T. Sukhoo and R. Barjohn picked up three wickets each. They in reply were skittled out for 30 with leading wicket taker, Leg spinner Salim Khan again in destructive mood with 7 wickets.
Asked to bat again, BBPS feared a little better and were bundled out for 58.
Bowling for TMSS Kahn again was in the picture as he and all-rounder Mark Lowenfield snared four wickets each.
The final is set for tomorrow at the Crabwood Creek Ground.
Five schools are participating in the competition with the other school being Central Corentyne Secondary School (CCSS).
The points standing at the end of the competition showed SLPS with 39, SHS 36, TMSS 24, CCSS 3 and BBPS 0.
Trophies and other incentives will be presented to the top two schools and the individual outstanding performers.
Former National wicketkeeper/batsman Sydney Jackman is the coordinator. (Samuel Whyte)
