Hussain, Shivraj and Solomon winners in New Trend Auto Golf tourney

Aleem Hussain, Lekhnarine Shivraj and Maurice Solomon emerged top of their 3 Flights in the exciting New Trend Auto golf tourney that was run off on Saturday last at the Lusignan Golf CLub. These three, who had been knocking at the door of the Winners Row for the past 2 months managed to push themselves forward with great skill and alacrity.

CEO and Owner of New Trend Auto, Rudy Ramalingum, who has come forward to readily support development of golfing in Guyana and the Lusignan Goof Club, started with a Foodtown Restaurant sponsorship last year.
Representing New Trend Auto and assisting in distributing the prizes were LGC member Guillermo Escarraga, new LGC member Mauro Gamargo Remiro from Schlumberger, and visiting Christina Howlett of LED by Design of Canada.
Played under the Medal Play system with Flights 0 -13, 14 – 21, and 22 – 28, the three winners in the New Trend toruney were able to outperform all the competitors in their flights, leading in each case by at least 3 strokes. (Prizes were awarded to the first 2 Best Net scores in each of the Flights.)
In the 22 – 28 Flight, veteran Maurice Solomon was at his indomitable peak producing a magnificent net 68, off a 24 handicap. Results in that Flight were: Maurice Solomon (68/24) – 1st; rookie Maxim Mangra (71/28) – 2nd; tied with Mangra for 2nd place but losing on the ‘back 9’ count was rookie Videsh Persaud (71/28);
In the 14 – 21 Flight the winners were: Lekhnarine Shivraj (65/17) – with a superb performance, leading his flight by 7 strokes – 1st; Gavin Todd (72/17) – 2nd; tied with B. Deo for 2nd place but losing on the ‘back 9’ count was Bholawram Deo (72/18); following closely were Hilbert Shields (73/16); Joaan Deo (74/14); Haresh Tewari (75/19); Guillermo Escarraga (75/21); and Mahendra Bhagwandin (76/14).
In the 0 – 13 Flight, winners were: Aleem Hussain (71/10) – 1st; Parmanand Persaud (74/12) – 2nd; also tied with Persaud for 2nd place but losing on the ‘back 9’ count were Kevin Dinanauth (74/6) and Mike Mangal (74/9); following closely was veteran Patrick Prashad (75/9).
In the special awards category, Nearest The Pin was won by David Harry, while both the Best Gross (80) and the Longest Drive, were won by Kevin Dinanauth.
