After more than two years, the health post at Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast, will finally be completed, most likely before the end of this year. This assurance was given yesterday by the Regional Executive Officer [REO] of Region Two, Dennis Jaikaran.
Based on reports reaching this publication, the construction of the Onderneeming health post was slated as part of the region’s capital works in 2016. Due to some challenges, however, the construction was abandoned by the contractor. Over the years, the partially constructed health post played host to stray cattle and other animals.
Jaikaran, who has been functioning as the region’s accounting officer since January of this year, told this publication yesterday, “based on the reports received, myself and a team visited the area, we looked at the situation and we are satisfied to date that this project is 80% to 90% completed. By the first half of the year, we are going to conclude arrangements for the other works to be completed.”
