The fifth annual Mohamed’s Enterprise/ExxonMobil futsal tournament kicked off Friday night at the Mackenzie Hard Court in Linden with six entertaining clashes.
In the opening night’s battle for the top cash prize of $600,000, Good Fellas made their presence known with an exhilarating 8-4 win over Hardball in the feature match of the night.
Runic Velloza’s four goals for the winners trumped Lorenzo Miller’s hat-trick effort for Hardball in the 12-goal spectacle, while in other results; Nut Genaslide defeated Red Line 5-4, while Haynes Hitters got past Presidential Family 5-2.
Deon Carter rifled in four out of Figgy Green Jags’ five goals during their 5-2 triumph over Amelia’s Ward Russians.
Meanwhile, Quiet Storm defeated Money Move 3-2 in the closest match of the night. Jehu Regis bagged a decisive brace for the winners while his teammate Antwaine Gill scored the other goal for his team.
In the penultimate match of the night, Progressive Ballers defeated Trendsetters 5-2.
When the final whistle is blown on August 18th the runners-up will receive a handsome $250,000, third $100,000 and fourth place $50,000 in the competition which has been sanctioned by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF).
