A Rose Hall Town man is set to appear at the Whim Magistrate’s Court today for the death of Wayne Sundar Singh, 43, who succumbed at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital due to injuries sustained after a night of imbibing with friends at Rose Hall Town.
An autopsy was also performed on his body.
Vivian Ross, who was arrested by police shortly after the man’s death reportedly, confessed to investigating ranks that himself, Singh and others were drinking when an argument broke out. The argument turned physical and Ross said he dealt Singh a cuff to the face.
He said that Singh fell to the ground. He hit his head and was rendered unconscious.
Government Pathologist Dr. Vivekanand Bridgemohan who performed the post mortem examination on Wayne Sundar Singh, said that the man died from severe haemorrhage caused by blunt trauma to the head.
Initial reports disclosed that after leaving his home eight days ago to spend time with his friends in Rose Hall Town, Singh of Lot 316 Swamp Section, Rose Hall Town was found unconscious with apparent marks of violence about his body. He succumbed at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
It was a young man from the village who informed Singh’s mother that he was lying unconscious along the road, approximately a street away. She had stated that she noticed that his mouth was swollen and bleeding while his entire left side head was swollen as well.
They immediately made contact with the Rose Hall Police Outpost from which the ranks arrived and transported the unconscious man to the Port Mourant Hospital. He was then transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he later died.
The relatives of the now dead man were adamant that Singh was killed given the injuries they noticed on his body.
Police had detained three persons and after intense interrogation one of the suspects, Ross, admitted to hitting the man causing him to fall and hit his head. The police were also awaiting the results of the post mortem report to determine the way forward.
