Orealla man missing after leaving Region Seven worksite

(Kaieteur News) – Family members of a 31-year-old Orealla man are desperately seeking information on his whereabouts after he went missing last week while returning home from Itabali Landing, Region Seven.

The missing man has been identified as Andrae Wayne Thomas, of Orealla, East Berbice-Corentyne (Region Six), who had travelled to Itabali with a group of men for work.

Thomas last contacted his family at about 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday, 28^th July, when he reportedly told them he was packing up after work and preparing to return home.

Speaking with Kaieteur News, his sister said the family was expecting him to arrive in Orealla on Wednesday afternoon, but he never reached.

“He called home to inform mommy that he was packing up in the afternoon after work to come home,” she said.

The following morning, relatives attempted to contact him, but became increasingly worried when his phone stopped responding.

“We called Wednesday morning and the phone rang out. Then we messaged and it was like somebody had the phone—the message read—but there was no response. After lunch, the phone turned off,” his sister explained.

Since then, Thomas’ family has not seen or heard from him.

Relatives said his journey home would have taken him through Bartica before continuing to Orealla, but they have received no information that he arrived there.

A missing persons report has since been lodged with the police at Bartica and Itabali.

Anyone with information on Thomas’ whereabouts is asked to contact his relatives on 592-729-8412 or the nearest police station.
