Guyana’s most active hand gun shooter, Harold ‘Topgun’ Hopkinson has once again done his nation proud when he won a silver medal in the Open Division at the Amazon Level 3 Shoot held in Suriname and sanctioned by USPSA/IPSC this past weekend.
Dr. Hi of Suriname claimed the 1st place with Brian Armstrong of Trinidad and Tobago, third. Hopkinson, the IPSC Regional Director for Guyana, using a Shay Akai Custom 2011, 9mm major, with a 171 power factor also placed 3rd to the Open World Champion, Christ Tiley in Stage 12 of the 14-stage shoot.
Nine countries took part in the competition, Aruba, Curacao, Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Germany, French Guyana and host Suriname. A total of 15 shooters competed in
Hopkinson’s category.
The Suriname competition was the second for 2018 for the self sponsored ‘Topgun’ having already competed at the Florida Open. He now has his gun aimed at competitions in Aruba, Grenada, Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, among others.
