Come next week, Guyana is expected to host the 24th Inter-American Committee on Tourism (CITUR) Congress.
Ministers from 34 countries that are part of the Organization of American States (OAS) will meet for the Inter-American Committee on Tourism (CITUR), which will be held in Guyana. It will be held under the theme “Connecting the Americas through the Sustainable Tourism.”
The event is slated for two days from March 21 at the Marriott Hotel. It will be the first time that Guyana will host a congress of the Organisation of American States.
Minister of Business and Tourism, Dominic Gaskin, during a recent interview, spoke about the event and the benefits of launching these international conferences in Guyana to develop international ties with other countries.
At the Inter-America Congress, there will be discussions related to tourism in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, the importance of productive innovation in the connected Americas and building resilience in the tourism sector among others.
The conference will feature cultural presentations, tourism booths, replicas of indigenous benabs and vending of local craft.
The hosting of the Congress is being coordinated by the Business Ministry’s Department of Tourism, led by Director General Donald Sinclair.
