(Kaieteur News) – Four persons are now in custody after police on Sunday discovered an air rifle and ammunition at Hope Village, East Coast Demerara.
Police said an investigation has been launched into the discovery which was made during an intelligence-led operation.
According to the police enquiries revealed that ranks, acting on information, visited the home of a 55- year-old farmer of Hope Estate, East Coast Demerara, where he was contacted along with a 51-year-old woman. During searches conducted on the premises, ranks discovered a black bag hidden in a drawer. There were also six live 12-gauge cartridges, 40 live 9mm rounds of ammunition and one air rifle.
While further searches were being conducted, police said the 26-year-old son, along with a 23-year-old female, arrived at the location. The four persons were informed of the offence and were arrested,” police added. They were taken to the Cove and John Police station where they remain in custody.
