Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Barton Scotland
headed a list of five outstanding Guyanese to receive the Dolphin Award of Excellence – the highest award of Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS. The others were Mahadeo Panuchu, Noreen Gaskin, Radesh Rameshwar and Safraz Sheriffudeen and together they received the award from RHTYSC President Keith Foster.
Long serving Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster at the presentation ceremony disclosed that the Dolphin Award of Excellence is the highest of the Club’s twelve award scheme and is specially reserved for only thirty awardees. The Awardees are selected by a five member panel headed by Foster and Vice President Mark Papannah based on their contribution to Guyana’s development, role model status and relationship with the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS. The long serving Secretary/CEO stated that the amount of awardees could only be increased by a two-thirds majority vote of club members at a Special Meeting.
Earlier awardees of the Award includes President David Granger, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, Ministers Volda Lawrence and Amna Ally, Bakewell General Manager Rajiv Ganga, Busta General Manager Robert Selman, Ansa Mcal Country Manager Beverly Harper, Namilco General Manager Bert Sukhai, Bank of Nova Scotia Marketing Executive Jennifer Cipriani, Journalists Franklyn Wilson, Claude David, Sean Devers, Avenash Ramzan and Gregory Rambarran.
Dr, Scotland apart from being the Speaker of the National Assembly also had a long and successful career as a Guyanese Diplomat. Panchu has done well Guyana in the rice sector and is now the CEO of KSM Investment, a Company that is making a massive contribution towards the construction sector in Guyana.
Mrs. Noreen Gaskin is the CEO of Sentinel Security and is a long time sponsor of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club.
Radesh Rameshwar is the Managing Director of Kares Engineering Inc and recently donated the prizes for the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Green Economy Tournament. Rameshwar also donated close to $1M worth of schools bags towards the Patron’s Fund.
Sheriffudeen is the visionary behind V Net Communication and currently serves as its Chief Executive Officer. All of the Awardees along with Engineer Satyna Kishun and Marketing Consultant Azeeze Khan were also inducted as Honorary Members of the dynamic organisation.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Foster stated, strongly believes in honouring heroes in their lifetime and also to honour its sponsors for their support of the club’s numerous activities.
All of the awardees expressed gratitude to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club for the honour and stated that they were proud to be inducted as Honorary Members of such a progressive organisation, which on a daily basis changes the lives of youths, the less fortunate and the elderly.
