The county of Berbice was rocked with the shocking news of an 11-year-old girl’s death after it was alleged that she intentionally ingested a lethal dose of carbon pills.
Trishana King, of Fort Ordinance, Canje, succumbed on Monday at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
Although details are sketchy, Kaieteur News understands that the grade six student of St. Therese’s Primary ingested the poison on Sunday evening.
Sources disclosed that the child, a few days before committing the act, told classmates that she was going to ‘kill herself’.
It was noted that the child was involved in a relationship with a student from another school, but this publication has yet to confirm the reports.
It was further disclosed that her father had reportedly taken away her phone on the day in question.
When Kaieteur News visited the school on Monday, the mood was somber as the teaching staff was still coming to grips with the news.
The child was described as a bubbly individual who would participate in a number of cultural activities.
Investigations are ongoing.
