For the second consecutive year the Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with Friends of Rising Sun is set to stage the President Cup Horserace meet in honour of Executive President of Guyana his Excellency Brigadier David Granger. The event will also be held as a continuation of Guyana’s 50 Anniversary Golden Jubilee Celebrations.
The event is slated for Sunday August 28th at the Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.
Eight races are listed for the day with over $7M in incentives up for the takings including cash and trophies.
The A and lower President Cup event will once again be the event to see with the top horses once again expected to continue their battle for supremacy over 1400M for an encouraging $1.2M and the President’s Cup.
The other races listed for the day are the event for horses classified E and Lower over 1400M for a pole position taking of $600,000.
Then there is the 1400M event for G and lower horses for a winning prize of 400,000 and trophy.
The winner of the H and lower 1400M event will get $300,000 and trophy. The two year old event is for Guyana Bred horses over 1100M for a winning pocketing $280,000 and trophy.
A competitive field is expected to take to the track in the race for animals classified ‘J’ and lower for the $260,000 top money over 1100 M.
Horses running in the J and Lower 1100M even will battle for a top prize of $240,000 and trophy. The K and lower 1100M event will see the winner taking home $220,000 and trophy.
The final event is for horses classified L and lower with a winner’s money of $180,000 and trophy also over 1100M.
Top jockeys, runner, stable and trainer will be presented with incentives compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall and the organizers.

The race will be run under the rules of the GHRA. Race time is 12:00 hrs.
