Guyana suffer another wash out game as T&T maintain lead
Guyana, for third time in a row, suffered another washed out match
without a ball being bowled when their scheduled third round clash against Barbados was abandoned at Lunch at the Enmore ground due to wet areas to Eastern sections of the ground after intermittent rain yesterday morning.
All three matches yesterday were washed out without a ball being bowled as rain on Guyana’s coast wrecked havoc with at the Everest ground in the Georgetown and Enterprise and Enmore on the East Coast of Demerara.
Guyana collected three points, one each from their three washed out games while Barbados moved to six points after their second round win against Jamaica to remain in second position behind Trinidad &Tobago who leads the points table with seven points and two abandoned games.
T&T had beaten Barbados to collect a bonus point.
Like Guyana, the Windwards and Leewards are on three points from three washed out games. Jamaica on two points from three games, sit at the bottom of the points table.
Tomorrow Guyana face debutants Leeward Islands at Everest, Barbados battle the Windwards at Enterprise and Jamaica oppose T&T at Enmore. All matches are scheduled to commence at 09:30hrs.
According to the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Bourda, DCC and Eve Leary in the City and Wales in West Demerara were earmarked as match venues for the 50-over tournament but were unavailable due to waterlogged conditions because of unseasonal rain here. The Providence Stadium is being used for CPL matches.
The GCB official added that no plans were made to acquire the GDF ground in Georgetown or the Alboin and Blairmount grounds in Berbice.
Former West Indies pacer Colin Stuart, TDO of the GCB told Kaieteur Sports that no venue changes were planned and checks at the venues late yesterday after he was optimistic that if there is sunshine today and tomorrow, play was likely in the fourth and penultimate round tomorrow.
The t20 Tournament is scheduled to commence on July 21 after the 50-over final is played on July 17 at Everest.
All of the t20 games are scheduled for Providence.
