A clearly superior Bahamian team in the 2016 Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Under-16 Championships brushed aside hosts, Guyana to win the title Saturday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Bahamas remained unbeaten on their way to the title with an 84-57 win, showing superior all-round basketball skill as they had done throughout the tournament. Bahamas, Guyana and third place finishers, Jamaica qualified for the CetroBasket Under-17 Championships next year.
It was simply total domination from the Bahamians from opening tip to final buzzer for the 27-point win in the final.
Bahamas’ ability to dominate the post along with running the fast-breaks was simply too much for the Guyanese, who were held to their lowest total of the tournament.
Domnick Bridgewater dropped a game high 34 points to go along with eight steals. He was eventually named tournament MVP. Samuel Hunter was the next best contributor with 10 points.
Kevon Wiggns dropped 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Guyanese. Nigel Bowen was the only other player in double digits with 10 points.
Bahamas opened the game with an up-tempo offensive pace for a quick 9-3 lead before Guyana’s Kevon Wiggins put in eight straight points for Guyana to tie the game at nine apiece.
However, Bahamas presence on the inside on the offensive end of the court along with their early perimeter shooting, despite Wiggins’ 12 first quarter points, allowed the Bahamians to go into the second quarter with a 30-18 lead.
Bahamas continued to pound the ball down low, playing a bruising style of basketball from the post with their inside-outside method as they extended the lead to 28 points by the end of the half with the score on 54-26 as the game was practically over by halftime.
The third and the fourth quarter was the same dose of medicine the Bahamians served, entertaining the packed Sports Hall with the next level of basketball.
